Day 2 Historic York

Explore Roman, Viking and medieval marvels on a walking tour of the ancient city of York and hear the tales of its fascinating past including a visit to York Minster, Northern Europe’s largest gothic cathedral. Enjoy some leisure time in the afternoon. You may wish to visit the world renowned Jorvik Viking Centre or the National Railway Museum, a must for any rail enthusiast!

Day 3 The Yorkshire Dales National Park

The Yorkshire Dales is home to outstanding scenery, great castles, abbeys and a breathtakingly peaceful atmosphere. With a short stop at Bolton Abbey, 12th century ruins of an Augustinian monastery continue to Skipton for a scenic canal cruise including a ploughman’s lunch. In the afternoon continue to picturesque market town of Hawes, the beating heart of Wensleydale and enjoy a behind the scenes visit to the Wensleydale Creamery - or why not go with some traditional beer tasting & brewery tour instead? On the return journey stop at the dramatic set of the Aysgarth Falls.

Day 4 North Yorkshire Moors National Park and Coast

Today you will explore the wild and windswept North York Moors, the largest heather moorland in England and Whitby, known as the Jewel of the Yorkshire Coast built around a natural harbour created by the river Esk and the starting place of Captain Cook’s voyage around the world to discover Australia. Enjoy a scenic drive through the National Park to the small market town of Pickering, where you will step aboard the historic North York Moor Railway. Aboard the picturesque steam railway pass through Goathland, famous for its appearances in the TV series 'Heartbeat' and the 'Harry Potter' films. Continue on to the coast to visit Whitby for some free time. Why not try their famed fish and chips or explore Bram Stoker’s Dracula trail. On your return journey follow the beautiful coastline south past Robin Hood's Bay.

Day 5 Depart at leisure

After a hearty breakfast, depart at leisure - speak to us to create a small highlight on your journey home - a garden visit such as Studley Royal Water Garden perhaps, a small market town exploration or a visit to Haworth, made famous by the Bronte sisters and home to the Bronte Parsonage Museum or simply a nice stop for a cup of tea...
