Day 1 Welcome to Scotland!
Why not spend your first night in Scotland’s capital city Edinburgh? Our meet & greet service on arrival will make your welcome into a personal experience. Enjoy regional cuisine in a local restaurant as well as an evening tour of the city to include a tailored whisky tasting for you and your group.
Day 2 The landscapes of the Scottish Borders
In the morning, why not enjoy Edinburgh at leisure before traveling into the ancient and beautiful Scottish Border Country - the views are spectacular and your guide knows where to find the best spots. Visit Melrose Abbey, St. Cuthbert’s place of work and worship before becoming bishop on Holy Island and enjoy a story or two written by some of Scotland’s best-known authors during your journey. Try some local salmon near the river Tweed… Continue your journey south into England and the scenic Northumberland National Park.
Day 3 The beautiful Northumberland coast
Explore the beautiful coast and travel past little fishing villages and grand castles until you reach the ancient capital of the kingdom of Northumbria, Bamburgh. Enjoy a walk along the sandy beach or a tea in one of the quaint little cafés. Fish n chips should not be missed in the small fishing town of Seahouses. In the afternoon, embark on a breath-taking boat trip to England’s Galapagos Islands. Host to thousands of seabirds and seals, the Farne Islands are stunning to explore and discover – enjoy a landing on one of the islands and experience puffins up-close.
Day 4 Roman legacies and the romantic Lake District
Your journey today takes you back in time to 122AD and the legacy of Hadrian’s Wall. Touch the historic wall on a short walk before heading on towards your next national park in the English Lake District. Why not enjoy a boat trip on Lake Windermere or explore the romantic history behind poets and writers William Wordsworth or Beatrix Potter. The small market town of Keswick should not be missed.
Day 5 Liverpool - home of the Beatles
Journey to Liverpool, home of the Beatles and its great waterfront on the river Mersey. Your hotel is right in the heart of it all near the famous Royal Albert Dock and its great museums. From here, enjoy a tour of the city’s highlights such as the Cunard Building, the two cathedrals, Cavern Quarter and Anfield. Afterwards spend time in the museums along the waterfront and enjoy the city at leisure.
Day 6 Yorkshire Dales to a medieval great
Explore the southern tip of the Yorkshire Dales on a canal cruise including a traditional cream tea from the historic town of Skipton. Afterwards experience the splendour of Bolton Abbey and enjoy spectacular walks along the riverside and maybe a spot of lunch in the old Abbey Tea Rooms. Travel through the spa town of Harrogate to medieval York.
Day 7 The medieval streets of York
Ever since its establishment in 71 AD, York has been the site of savage warfare, intense political intrigue and industrial breakthrough. It was here that Constantine, who would shake Europe to its core by converting Rome to Christianity, became Roman Emperor. It was here that Richard plotted his campaigns during the Wars of the Roses. York is also the birthplace of Guy Fawkes, the greatest traitor in England’s history! Discover the city on your personal walking tour and then explore the streets and “snickleways” at your own leisure.
Day 8 Depart at leisure
After a hearty breakfast, depart at leisure - speak to us to create a small highlight on your journey home - a garden visit in Yorkshire perhaps, small market town exploration or simply a nice stop for a cup of tea...
