Day 1 A Personal Welcome
Our meet & greet service on arrival at your chosen hotel will turn your welcome into a personal experience. Enjoy your first evening together with a Welcome Dinner and an optional introduction talk on the region you are visiting. Why not enjoy an evening stroll through Newcastle or take part in an evening walking tour?
Day 2 Discover Northumberland National Park
Travel through England's most Northerly & likely the most tranquil national park into Northumberland - see parts of the Roman Frontier on Hadrian's Wall before venturing North towards Bellingham and into the UNESCO Dark Skies Park at Kielder. Discover Kielder Water & Forest Park, the story behind one of Europe's largest reservoirs and the fantastic array of wildlife in this remote part of England: native red squirrel, roe deer, otters, bats or ospreys can be spotted throughout the park. Why not visit the largest salmon hatchery in England & Wales?
Day 3 In the footsteps of the Lake Poets
Travelling west, experience the beauty of the English Lake District UNESCO World Heritage Site. A mountainous area, whose valleys have been modelled by glaciers in the Ice Age and subsequently shaped by an agro-pastoral land-use system characterised by fields enclosed by walls. Enjoy a boat cruise on Ullswater to take in the scenery & learn more about the Lake Poets. Continue to Grasmere for some free-time and to walk in the footsteps of William Wordsworth (and others).
Day 4 Discover Windermere
This is a day to be creative with your time - enjoy a scenic drive out, do some hiking, travel by heritage railway, follow in the footsteps of Peter Rabbit or simply relax by the lakeside. The choice is yours!
Day 5 The rolling hills of Yorkshire
The Yorkshire Dales is home to outstanding scenery, great castles, abbeys and a breathtakingly peaceful atmosphere. At its heart are two very special protected areas - Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Each of the Yorkshire Dales has a different character. The Southern Dales are less remote, yet still wildly beautiful. The Northern Dales provide wild heather moorland and valleys full of hay meadows, dry stone walls and barns. Travel through the Northern reaches into Hawes, discover Wendsleydale Cheese & demonstration before heading South into beautiful Nidderdale...
Day 6 Rugged landscapes on the Yorkshire coast
Forged by nature and shaped over centuries, the North York Moors National Park is a special place to visit & enjoy. Journey to the market town of Pickering and step aboard the North York Moors Railway to Goathland, in the heart of the national park. This moorland village has attracted visitors for centuries, but numbers soared following its appearance as 'Aidensfield' in the television series 'Heartbeat' and its role as Hogsmede Station in the 'Harry Potter' films. Continue on to the coast to visit Whitby, before a coastal trip to your next lodging...
