Favourite travel experience
One of the greatest mainline railway journeys you can take is London to Edinburgh - this is definitely one of my favourite travel experiences! Take some time on your way North and stop in the historic city of York - immerse yourself in history, intrigue and industrial heritage in this fascinating, very walkable, city! Continue past the dales into Durham - again, take some time to explore the magnificent cathedral & castle (both UNESCO World Heritage sites) before heading past the impressive Angel of the North and reaching Newcastle. Spend a day or two here, discover the architecture, culture and one of the best regeneration projects in the country! The riverside, with its array of galleries & the stunning Sage Gateshead philharmonic, are not to be missed. Continue along the beautiful Northumberland coast - make sure you sit on the right hand side of the train carriage (when journeying north)! The scenery is simply awe-inspiring - castles, sandy beaches, Holy Island, natural beauty all round... Then, after a total journey time of only 3.5 hours from London (with no stops), reach Scotland's capital, Edinburgh!Favourite place
One of my favourite things to do is cycle! I love the outdoors and don't really have that ONE place. Anywhere with breathtaking scenery and a good cycle area is perfect for me - therefore, just about anywhere in the North of England is great!
