Favourite travel experience

The beautiful coastline in Northumberland including Bamburgh village & the magnificent castle, perched on a rocky outcrop right next to the sandy beaches and North Sea; or the Holy Island of Lindisfarne - cradle of English Christianity and, a little further South, the quaint marina at Amble. My absolute favourite, though, is the little village of Craster, famous for the Craster Kippers, and the walk from there to the romantic ruin of Dunstanburgh Castle. What a stunning walk - and if you continue along the coastal path you will be rewarded by one of the best pubs on the coast :) Love it!

Favourite place

I must admit, I really like Melrose in the Scottish Borders - right on the sleepy river Tweed. It's a small yet charming & interesting town with a number of independent shops all surrounded by rolling countryside which makes it ideal for walking and cycling. The abbey ruin is in a splendid setting (and there are several more dotted around in the region). For a great day out from there you can take the recently reopened Borders Railway to Edinburgh or visit the nearby former home of Sir Walter Scott at Abbotsford House!
