Climate change is arguably the world's biggest issue and we want to ensure that we are doing our part - our workforce offsets their carbon footprint and we plant trees on a regular basis as well as for every booking we receive. Therefore, you, our customers, can be part of our sustainable story.

We are fully committed to reducing our carbon footprint in this world and ensuring we have a Climate Positive Workforce.
This means every Northern Secrets employee offsets their entire carbon footprint, including emissions from our homes, personal travel, holidays, food, hobbies and more.
At Northern Secrets, we plant hundreds of trees per year & for every booking we receive we plant additional trees in our forest.
PROTECTING OUR PLANET
We have partnered with Ecologi to support our earth & help in projects to lower our carbon footprint.
Deforestation amounts to the second-leading cause of climate change, after fossil fuel burning. Tropical forests are disappearing at an alarming rate - we would like to contribute to the reforestation of many parts of the world. The projects we support range from local reforesting near Glasgow, Scotland, through the rewilding of the Appalachians in the USA to Amazon rain forest projects in Peru.
One example is part-funding the protection of 98,932 hectares of Amazon forests in south east Peru's Madre de Dios region. Protection of this area will prevent 659,793 tonnes of CO² from entering the atmosphere each year. This project ensures the long-term conservation of the forest & promotes healthy wildlife habitat. Where possible, we only use regionally owned coach & chauffeured travel operators for our tours. The personal service from drivers is an important aspect of your journey with us and we generally know all drivers on who work on our tours.
Our tour guides are all trained & vetted by us personally to give you that perfect travel experience.
We believe it’s our responsibility to help you travel the right way. We do this through collaboration with the people we work closely with across our regions as well as with the passionate staff here at Northern Secrets.

Our philosophy to create easier processes, eliminate waste, make better use of time (probably the most important commodity out there) provides create simpler steps for our guests when on their journey with us - this begins at contact via email or telephone, followed booking processes which are completely paperless & planning abilities which include virtual meetings, a mobile app* so you can follow progress in real-time as well as simpler collation of vouchers, tickets & booking information. Finally, during your tour, you can use the mobile tour planner app* to access any information on your destination, chat with your personal travel concierge or show your virtual ticket to attractions or at events.

At Northern Secrets, the safety & health of our guests are always of paramount importance to us.
As well as us, our partners in accommodation, transport companies, tourist guides & attractions all play a vital role in keeping you healthy during our trips & tours. It is our duty to be pro-active in any health & safety measures, which is why we have created new health protocols to be implemented by us & our suppliers to ensure all guests experience the very best we have to offer - in a safe and healthy way.
As before, our focus is on quality and enriched experiences for you in an authentic and sustainable way. This position is strengthened by the outbreak in 2020 and, moving forward, plays an even stronger role in all tours we create for our customers.

During our tours, we emphasise the use of local hotels, restaurants and produce where possible and making a difference to the local economy. Immerse yourself in regional hospitality, try something that is truly authentic and discover parts of the regions only the locals know...
We love the regions we specialise in and therefore we feel it is our duty to protect these and ensure local people benefit. We work closely with our regional partners and ensure you receive the highest quality experience around.
Our responsibility for our planet continues in our office, where we adhere to the overall approach of reusing, recycling and reducing the usage of printed paper, packaging, water and electricity. We try and do things digitally where possible (but you can always request anything we send to you as a paper document). Our brochures are moving mostly online and we are always looking at innovative ways to become more sustainable & green.
We are also officially a Paperless tour company. This means you can make your mark but leave less of a footprint behind on your travels.
